Work and residence permits
There are several kinds of work and residence permits:
Residence permit and temporary jobs
Authorization to live and work abroad within the period specified on the authorization. First issue: 1 year (maximum duration), extendable for two periods of two years. The authorization can be issued to work as an employee or self-employed.
Permanent residence permit
After living in Spain for five years, in a legal way. The holder can live in Spain indefinitely and work in equal conditions than other workers.
Specific duration residence permit
To develop specific activities. When the period of time ends, the foreign person must return to the country of origin.
Authorizations for students
Students can stay in Spain in order to carry out training courses or research studies. The duration of the stay depends on the duration of the training course. With this authorization the student can't work. Nevertheless it can be authorized a permit to work (part time).
