The stay means permanence in Spain for a time less than 3 months (90 days); after this period, the foreigner must leave the country or apply for an extension or authorisation to reside here.
A foreigner may be in a situation of temporary residence (more than 90 days and less than 5 years), or in a situation of permanent residence (more than 5 years).
The authorisations of residence and work accredit the foreigner to be able to live and work in Spain with equal conditions to Spanish people, except in some cases of restrictions regarding the territorial sphere and work activity to be undertaken during the first year of the authorisation in force.
