2008 Campaing of temporary agricultural workers

Once again the SOC is starting the agricultural workers campaign with the aim contributing to improving the contractual process of seasonal workers, and at the same time assist these workers to obtain employment in the agricultural sector.

For 2008, the Catalan Employment Service is making available to companies and workers interested in the agricultural workers campaign their network of Employment Offices and three backup Mobile offices (see office 1, office 2) so that the companies and seasonal workers can contact each other and, in this way help in all the intermediation process that culminates with the signed contracts.

These mobile offices will be making itinerant routes through the villages most isolated from the Employment Offices in order to provide coverage for the whole region.

During these months, the SOC will have the collaboration of the trade union and employers organisations, as well as the local councils that will be responsible for the support tasks in the running of municipal accommodation and other tasks arising from the campaign.

Other actions of the SOC

During the 2008 agricultural workers campaign the SOC will be undertaking other actions such as the promotion of different types of subsidy in order to qualitatively improve the running of the seasonal contracting system for newly arrived workers that the agricultural companies undertake, and the reception and stay of these people during the time of the work contract.
