Every year there is a public tender, published at the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC), for holding the Assistant Teacher vacancies. The interested persons who want to apply for Catalan Assistant Teacher must have a title, Catalan Philology if possible or bring the title expedition application receipt. If the applicant has not the title of Catalan Philology, he/she must bring a certificate to credit his/her advanced knowledges of Catalan or equivalent. We must also credit enough knowledges of the official language of the country.

The Assistant Teacher holder is directly connected to the university of destination for one academic course at least. The weekly teaching hours will be completed with promotion and spreading activities about the Catalan language and literature, such as organizing seminars, conferences, etc.

The Assistant Teachers commission works to spread and improve the teaching of the Catalan language, and also its culture and literature all around the world. Nowadays there are 93 Catalan Assistant Teachers. They receive 4.006 students of all countries.
